Kannad AF-COMPACT homologuée par la FAA

Kannad, a world leader in 406 MHz beacon technology, announces the EASA and FAA TSO approval of it’s newest and smallest 406 MHz ELT for light aviation.

 Based on successful technology from previous generations of products, the 406 AF-Compact is a sophisticated Emergency Locator Transmitter (ELT) that incorporates a “self sustaining” system eliminating the need for aircraft power.

“With the launch of this new “all in one” ELT system, avionics technicians will never have to wire power or alarm buzzers. Just three wires from the switch to the ELT and that is it.” said Floyd Roney, North American Sales Manager for Kannad.

According to Kannad, the Compact ELT will reduce installation time by approximately 60% for all single and twin engine aircraft with the added bonus of adding a navigation interface option at any time. The 406 AF-Compact is the first ELT complete kit to sell for under $1000 and allow navigation upgrades. Additionally, Kannad has made the Compact ELT field serviceable for any Part145 repair station.

Christian Belleux, Product Manager for the 406 AF-Compact added that the new system will be available with a 250 knot whip or 350 knot rod antenna making it available to a majority of the private aircraft market in the U.S. “We’ve also published an easy to use maintenance manual for avionics shops that allows them to perform battery replacement and annual re-certification without any specialized training. All they need is a beacon tester and a copy of our manual.” says Mr. Belleux.

Kannad managers say their aim is “to help reduce the cost of ELT installations for general aviation and give every pilot big time features at a reasonable
